Canyon de Chelly National Monument

This impressive canyon has been inhabited for over 4000 years and it features 800-year-old pueblo buildings. There are several lookouts where you can view the ruins but there is only one short hiking trail (the White House Trail; 4km return) that you are permitted to hike without a Navajo guide.
