This 3429m dormant volcano is the fourth highest in the Cascade Range and it is Oregon's tallest mountain. The mountain is home to 12 glaciers, it has four ski areas and 1900km of hiking trails. Mt Hood's snow-covered peak is a prominent landmark that can be seen from 160km away.
The Mt Hood Scenic Byway is a 3-4 hour scenic drive between Toutdale and Hood River that runs by Mt Hood. It is a good way to get an overview of the mountain for travellers with limited time.
