AIR

Not too many travellers use Portland's international airport (tel 1 877 739 4636; website www.portlandairportpdx.com). The airport is modern and efficient and it has excellent transport connections to the city centre. The easiest and cheapest way to get downtown is by the MAX light rail system that runs every 15 minutes. The 38-minute ride downtown costs $2.05.

BUS

Greyhound buses (tel (503) 243 2361; website www.greyhound.com) arrive at the Greyhound terminal at 550 NW 6th Avenue (bus 9, 77). There are frequent buses to other cities in the surrounding region, particularly to Seattle with around 15 departures every day.


Green Tortoise (tel (503) 956 7537; website www.greentortoise.com) buses depart from Union Station.

TRAIN

Amtrak (website www.amtrak.com) trains depart from Union Station at 800 NW 6th Avenue (bus 9, 77) at the northern edge of downtown.
